Game- Barry Lyga

I Hunt Killers introduced the world to Jasper (Jazz) Dent, the son of the world's most infamous serial killer.

When a desperate New York City detective comes knocking on Jazz's door asking for help with a new case, Jazz can't say no. The Hat-Dog Killer has the Big Apple--and its police force running scared with no leads. So Jazz and his girlfriend Connie hop on a plane to the big city and get swept up in a killer's murderous game.

Meanwhile, Jazz's dad Billy is watching...and waiting

Oh what can I say about the beautiful horrifying love I feel for Barry Lyga’s new novel Game

First off I Hunt Killers was far an away one of the best novels I read in 2012 and the sequel is almost just as good.

I enjoyed the serial killer details; one can tell that the author took the time to do research into serial killers, psychology and all the dirty horrible inner workings that make up the mind of a serial killer.

I have been fascinated with Serial Killers for years, in fact right now there is a person BTKing cats in Provo, and I KNOW it’s a baby serial killer in the making, and am a little excited about it… Yeah I’m twisted, I know it

Jazz’s inner struggle with whether or not he is a sociopath is one I can relate to. Am I saying I am sorry because I am? Or because I know people need to hear that I am sorry. Do I feel these things because I do or because I am supposed to?

I think the characters are very real; they are flushed out, and have detail, humor and lives outside of when you see them in the book.

There was a good plot, twists I didn’t see coming, an excellent attention to detail, dark humor, and some fairly sick and twisted death scenes.

I love Billy so much I almost don’t want him to get caught..

The only issues I had were that Jazz’s girlfriend Connie is pretty stupid and instead of going to the police she thinks she can handle a serial killer by herself. Which is just dumb, especially since her boyfriend is the son of a serial killer, they like games, you cannot win.

And no police or FBI or any kind of law enforcement is going to let a 17 years old boy into their investigation no matter who his daddy is. It’s just not going to happen. It’s a pretty big reality stretch for me to think of FBI showing case files and telling secrets to the son of a notorious serial killer, even if he helped catch another one.

In any case, five weeping angels for a kick ass novel.
