Top Ten Tuesday Top Ten Books I Will Probably Never Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by the brilliant Broke and Bookish this week we are featuring top ten books you will never read. What books will never make it to your TBR pile and why?

Mine are a combo of series I gave up on, authors I hate and books that just don't appeal to me.

1)Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
Reason:
1) Not a big fan of Russian literature
2) Plot seems dull
3) Have you seen how many pages it is?

2)Created to Be his Help Meet by Debbie Pearl
Reason:
Bunch of overly Christian male dominated rules about being the perfect wife, written by a crazy woman.

3) 300 Sandwiches a Multi layered Love Story With Recipes by Stephanie Smith
Reason:
She got her boyfriend to agree to propose if she made him 300 sandwiches in a year. It was a stupid blogger thing she got a book deal for. Would be cute had the boyfriend been joking and she not taken it seriously. So stupid.

4)Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
Reason:
Has a trigger scene where the boy freaks cause the girl he likes leave without waking him up. Romanticizes stalking and angry abusive alpha male boyfriends and the idea a woman can"change" her partner.

5) The Elite by Kiera Cass
Reason:
I find this series to be misogynistic in concept at best and have no desire to read it or any other novels by this author. Also, really not interested in the plot.

6)Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James
Reason:
Isn't it enough I read the first book? Ugh, worse "erotica" I have ever read. And Twilight Fan Fic at it's worse.

7)Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris
Reason:
Have you read my reviews of the Sookie Stackhouse Books? I didn't read the last two in the series and why would I? Ugh the bad sex scenes alone were enough to keep me from cracking open these pages. Plus Sookie is a slut shaming slut lol

8) Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Reason:
My husband read this last year and gave me the 411, he and his book club hated it and I have not been impressed with the movie trailer or the book synopsis.

9)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Reason:
I have seen all the movies up to now and honestly don't care for the story-line. I fast forward through most of the actual "hunger games" parts. I asked friends who read the books if Katniss is as mopey, sullen and kind of a brat in the books like she is in the movies and most said yes. I'd rather read Divergent, please and thank you. Kids killing kids for fun, I will pass.

10) Game of Thrones (any book) by George RR Martin
Reason:
Watched the first two season and have no need to read about all the characters I find enjoyment in dying. Plus epic fantasy? Not my thing.

  1. Yeah, I'm probably never going to read Anna Karenina or game of Thrones either. Neither are my thing. You see, I prefer The Hunger Games over Divergent, mostly because the last book in the Divergent series was SO BAD it made the entire series pointless. Beautiful Disaster is probably on my NO list, too.

    2. I'm reading Allegiant right now and I knew what happened prior to reading it but omg I was hoping that I was misinformed or wrong. wtf! Allegiant is one reason why I hate reading the last book in a series! haha But I digress. Allegiant probably could have been a million times worse. lol

  3. Great list! I'm with you on Hunger Games. Glad, I'm not the only one! I don't really have a problem with the plot or the concept. I just have no desire. I've watched the movies and I like them but I'm not going to waste my time with the books... At least I don't think I will.

  4. We had three of the same books! I agree with Tolstoy - I had to read one of his novels in high school, and I have no desire to read another one. I read Gone Girl and liked it, but I know it isn't for everyone.

  5. Ugh...my comment didn't post the first time around. Grr...I will not be reading any of the Fifty Shades books either. I'm with you on Sookie...I gave up on her a while ago.

  6. I laughed at your reasons for the first book. YES.

I despised Gone Girl. Good choice.

The only book I didn't think was bad was Hunger Games. I think it was more than kids killing kids for fun. I saw it more in a metaphorical way, but I totally get why many people would pass.

    Great list!

  7. Sad to see Hunger Games on your list, but I completely understand your reasoning. I agree about The Selection, Fifty Shades, and Gone Girl. I will also not be reading them.

    Great list!
